About My Artwork

The landscape of where I have lived has a great impact on my work. On display are paintings that I did while in Ohio, Vermont, and now Texas.  Painting has become a way for me to adapt.  For me, there is no better way to become acquainted with a new environment and culture than to paint it.
In order to gather images from my surroundings I will occasionally paint on the scene and I am always carrying a camera.  My photos are used as a beginning source for ideas on how I would like my style in composition to emerge.
My goals in composition are to make the viewer look and think about the landscape from a different point of view.  To accomplish this I focus on: finding angles that the viewer normally wouldn't notice, use contrasting darks and lights to create drama, and use colors that evoke emotion.
My career as an emerging artist has begun thanks to the support of co-workers, friends, and family.  I look forward to continuing my painting, taking more risks in my artwork, and having many more exhibitions.
